Power Switch (v0.2)
Thanks To Xbox-scene.com
Well it took a little bit of time to finally get all the right
info together. But I finally managed it. Here is what you need to
do.
NOTE: If you use a lightgun or racing wheel or the like, you will
not be able to use them on the controller port that you modify.
They use the yellow wire. You will need to plug them into a different
port to use them.
Parts Needed
1-Momentary Push Button normally in the open state (I used Radio
shack #275-646)
Some wire
Some Solder
Soldering Iron
Dremel
Well the first thing I did was to figure out where I wanted the
switch. The only place I could find enough room for it was above
the left joystick. It also looks nice there as you can see later.
I then put the nut on the inside of the controller shell and drew
around the inside of the nut with a marker onto the top part of
the controller shell. Break out the Dremel :)
After you get the switch in, tin and solder some wire to the points
on the switch. Connect one wire to the ground solder point, which
is point 1 in the picture. Connect the other wire to the yellow
wire solder point, point 2.

Now close up the controller and set it aside.

Open up your XBOX and take the drives out. Clip the yellow wire
coming from controller port one and attach another longer wire to
it (the part of the wire coming from the controller port). Then
attach the other end to the front panel PCB (look at the pic). It
is the second point up from the bottom. The other part of the yellow
wire that goes to the USB daughterboard is not used so it can just
be left hanging there. Close up your xbox and try it out. Pretty
sweet.
Here is the end result:
